On Sunday, November 27, 2016, I had a dream that I believe shows us as believers what we should focus our attention to as we ‘Watch’ for the Lord’s return. In Matthew 24 we read from verse one; Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call His attention to the buildings. “Do you see all these things?” he asked. “I tell you the truth, not one stone here will be left on another; everyone will be thrown down.” As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
As you continue to read in Matthew 24 you begin to see that is that the Second Coming of Jesus centers on Israel and Jerusalem. So what does the bible say about where Jesus will actually come back to? In Zechariah 14:1-4 we read; A Day of the LORD is coming when your plunder will be divide among you. I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city. Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights in the day of battle. On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives east of Jerusalem… I would suggest that you read the rest of Zechariah 14 for yourself and you will come to the conclusion that you do not want to be on the wrong side of the fence in this battle. Israel is very important to God and if you are against the nation of Israel you will find that you are an enemy of God. In Matthew 24:36 Jesus says that no one knows the Day or the Hour but in 24:32 He says; “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree. As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. The ‘Fig tree’ is a reference to Israel and until May 14th, 1948 it had ceased to be a nation and now the Fig tree has sprouted leaves again. Think about it like this; when we celebrate Thanksgiving in America we know that Christmas is just around the corner and while we may not know the day or the hour we sure can know the season of the coming of Jesus. “Watch”
The dream starts out with my friend and co-worker John. John does the devotions on this website and is a great man of God. In the dream he and I were under a canopy or pavilion. You often see these in parks as they give some protection to rain but they have no outside walls. I turn to my left and see a small cyclone or whirlwind approaching the pavilion we are standing under. When I say small it was about three foot in diameter, similar to those little twisters you see in the desert. As this mini twister approaches I am mesmerized in wonder as it draws closer to the place we are standing. As it closes the gap between us it literally passes under the canopy and comes to a stop directly in front of me. I am amazed at this great wonder as I can’t believe what I am seeing. There is a table between the miniature twister and us and after sitting stationary for a short time it moves away from into the distance. As I watched it move away I glanced down at the table and there was a newspaper opened with the front page showing. What was in the news of this paper I could not see but what I could see was the name of the paper as it was a copy of the “Jerusalem Post”.
So what does this mean? If you study the return of Christ or ‘The Day of the Lord’ you will quickly see that it centers on the nation of Israel. When Jesus comes back He will land on the Mount of Olives which is on the east side of Jerusalem. (Zechariah 14:4, Acts 1-12). In Mathew 24-25 Jesus gives a detailed description of the events that will precede His return. I believe the Lord is telling us to pay attention to what is going on in Israel. You can download the JPost app for free and read about the latest news that’s happening in Israel. After checking the JPost news for a couple of weeks I realized that it gives not only news about Israel but what is going on in the middle east and the U.S. as well. Check it out and Merry Christmas!
