I write this to you because I know what I went through as a young believer. I had many struggles in life and found that it takes time but you can, through God’s Word (the bible), overcome any obstacle that the devil has set against you. You must understand that while you are a ‘new creature’ in Christ your flesh has not changed.
You are a three part being, spirit, soul, and body. Your spirit is the part of you that will live forever while your flesh is the part you can see and touch. Your soul is your mind, will and emotions and is the mediator between your spirit and flesh. When you receive Jesus and Lord your spirit becomes a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17) and like your flesh it has to be fed, only with God’s Word or the bible. In the book of Galations the apostle Paul talks about this:
“I say then: Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these things are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.” (Galations 5:16-25)
The above is your guide to how you should walk but it’s easier said than done. As a Christian you must begin to renew your mind with God’s Word. The apostle Paul addresses this issue in the book of Romans chapter 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Ro 12:1-2
As you begin to read, study, and confess God’s Word over your life it will transform your mind. You might say that sounds crazy but it’s true. In Hebrews 4:12 it says; “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
