Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

In the first chapter of Matthew the Holy Spirit lets us know that Jesus is the fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah 7:14. About 700 years prior to the coming of Jesus the prophet Isaiah saw that Jesus would be born of a virgin, and would receive the title, “Emmanuel” which means God with us. As a fulfillment of prophecy Jesus our Emmanuel was born. God was now on earth in a human body. So what did He do? What was his objective? He came to save us from our sins by dying on the cross for us. In the last chapter of Matthew and the very last verse of the book Jesus said, “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” The Holy Spirit is trying to teach us a very important truth about God. It is no accident that the first chapter of Matthew lets us know that God is with us. Then the last chapter tells us God is with us. In the first chapter Jesus is born, and in the last chapter He is risen from the grave. In between chapter 1 and 28 Jesus did a whole lot of living as a man. He experienced loneliness, heartache, betrayal, joy, sorrow, and a whole host of circumstances. Today, right now, may the Holy Spirit show you that Jesus knows what you are going through. He is with you! He loves you! He knows how you feel! He is the author and finisher of your faith! He was with you when He saved you. He will be with you at the end when you are finally redeemed and your race is finished. He is with you every step of the way. The holiday season can be a time of great difficulty and a struggle for some. It that is your case remember that God loves you and He is with you. You situation can improve over the holidays. Knowing that He is with you and loves you can bring comfort to your troubled soul. This thought of Emmanuel implies that He is in full control of everything; even you. The secret power of many Christians is realizing the presence of God in their lives. Moses spent many hours and days in fellowship with God. In fact, God said, “. . .My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”(Exodus 33:14). Moses spoke to God as a man speaks to a man face to face. Today the Holy Spirit speaks to our heart. So pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show you that God is with you. His presence is with you. Ask Him to let you feel, sense, and know His presence. Oh what a Savior! He left heaven and came to earth. He redeemed your soul. He is in heaven pleading your cause. He left the Holy Spirit to be with us to lead us and guide us and to love us. Emmanuel, God with us!

Dear Lord,

Many times I do not feel your presence. Sometimes it seems like You have forgotten me. Holy Spirit please open my eyes. Let me see that You are with me. Let me see that You love me. Let me see that You will never leave me or forsake me. Lord God let me sense Your presence. May You give me a calm assurance that You are in control. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

It seems like I do not have the faith described in Hebrews. However, I want to please you. I want to be faith
